The ChicGreen living event is designed to showcase the newest and most inventive of the green products and services. The Mayor’s Office of Sustainability will kick off the event. The interactive expo/cocktail party will be held Tuesday October 27, 2009 from 5-9 PM at the Crystal Tea Room in center city Philadelphia.
In the United States, buildings account for 40 percent of the nation’s energy consumption. A good portion of that usage, approximately 20 to 35 percent, comes from lighting. The opportunity to lower that segment of consumption is increasingly occurring by upgrading lighting.

Making its way to 40 states and 20 countries, the latest 32-gallon trash disposal device, called the "Big Belly" uses solar energy to condense up to 150-200 gallons of waste. When trash reaches the top of the bin, a motor is generated to push it down. As the bin gets more packed, a light changes from green to yellow to red.
