As solar incentives kick off during Energy Awareness Month, new jobs are opening up all across the nation. Solar installation careers are becoming bright futures for workers with less education.
October is Energy Awareness Month, which was first proclaimed in 1991 by President George H.W. Bush.
Promoted by the U.S. Department of Energy, the theme for 2009 is “A Sustainable Energy Future; Putting All the Pieces Together.”

A program recently announced by the Department of Labor will train, and find jobs for, about 3,000 United States Veterans for “Green” Jobs. A total of 17 veterans’ organizations will receive funding to put our brave heroes to work creating a brighter and cleaner future for all Americans.
On July 4th, 2009, the Eco Academy has plans to launch a new green job training program online. Prior to creating the online training program, the Eco Academy was holding live training sessions every month.

The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $114 million in grants to 183 community groups for education and training, including numerous groups already involved in the government’s YouthBuild program. YouthBuild assists youths in obtaining high school diplomas or GEDs and occupational training in construction.
