We’re all being encouraged to be as green as possible, and there are many ways you can do it. Reuse, reduce and recycle is a phrase we’ve all become very familiar with. Changing the light bulbs we use, living a more energy efficient lifestyle, walking to work and using the shower rather than having a bath have all become part of our daily lives. But what can you do if you want to enjoy a night out with your friends? Is there a way to have fun and still be as eco-friendly as possible? Of course, there is, and here’s how you can do it.

What are You Going to Wear?

It’s always very tempting to get something new but before you head to the department store think about more eco-friendly options. The best thing to do would be to choose something from your wardrobe, but if you want something different, you should consider looking around your local thrift store first, even if you’ve never thought about buying something second hand before you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the variety of outfits available. If you really have to buy a brand new outfit look for an eco-friendly retailer online.

How are You Going to Get There?

If you live in a city or are traveling to an urban location for your night out then, you’ve got to use public transport. This is by far one of the greenest ways to travel and also more efficient than driving your car. If you’ve bought tickets for an event that’s out of your area consider car-sharing with your friends. Alternatively, look for an eco-friendly car hire company that can offer hybrid and fuel-efficient rental cars. If you’re lucky enough to live just a couple of miles from your destination, then you’ve got to get your walking shoes on and walk. When it comes to traveling, you can’t choose anything more sustainable than using your own two feet.

Where are You Going to Go?

An increasing number of entertainment venues are choosing a much greener approach which means the options for an eco-friendly night out are more extensive than ever before. You might even find a city that offers eco-friendly clubs you can visit. Bar Surya is an excellent example if you ever find yourself in London. The venue is powered by on-site wind turbines and solar panels and is furnished with recycled furniture. BD Riley’s in Austin Texas and Standing Stone Brewing Co in Ashland, Oregon are a couple of examples closer to home.

Many sporting stadiums are also embracing sustainability. Allstate Arena in the city of Rosemont, Illinois offers visitors advice on going green and serves up beverages in clear cups made from plants growing in the USA. Tickets for events taking place at this venue can be purchased online at ticketsales.com.

When you’ve enjoyed a night out with friends and family and have done everything you can to reduce your carbon footprint by making conscious, green choices it’ll be all the more enjoyable because you know you’ve done a little bit more for the future of our planet.
