The 15th annual X Games will be held in Los Angeles, California from July 30th – August 2nd, 2009. The X Games features athletes from across the globe competing for medals and prize money in the following sports: skateboarding, motocross, BMX and rally car racing.

In addition, the X Games promotes environmental stewardship through X Games Environmentality (XGE). X Games Environmentality (XGE) is a comprehensive program that drives environmental stewardship through all facets of event planning. By bringing environmental initiatives to the forefront of operations, XGE minimizes the impact of each event through waste minimization, the use of renewable resources and environmentally conscious products, and pollution prevention. The X Games are a leader in hosting environmentally responsible sporting events.

Educational outreach for fans, staff and vendors will include opportunities to contribute to XGE’s efforts such as Get Caught Recycling. Get Caught Recycling is a program created by the XGE in order to encourage recycling. Environmentality explains that the program works as follows: Fans who get caught recycling during the Games will be rewarded with tokens that they can redeem for valuable prizes at the TRASHed Recycling Store. The program produces solid results with voluntary recycling by fans in exchange for fun, environmentally-friendly prizes.

This year’s Games will be featured on both ESPN and ABC.
