LED Optics are the components that have the ability to change the beam angle and overall directionality of light output. Lumens are not all created equal. The total amount of light as measured in lumens and the efficiency of light fixtures as measured in lumens per watt are both key data points in the selection process of LED high bay fixtures. The latest innovations in LED Optics can direct light to where it is needed most and in so doing increase the efficiency of the LED fixtures.

The celebrated 20th Century modern architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe famously said, “Less is More.” In the case of LED light fixture output, more light has typically been more favorable. However, less total light is now more beneficial from an energy consumption standpoint if the LED light fixture uses optical technology to delivers the desired foot candles at the horizontal and vertical surfaces of any given facility.

As the adoption of energy-efficient LED lighting increases across the U.S. and the global market, the complexity increases as well. Buyers have the opportunity to save 50% or more energy over traditional lighting, and the latest generation of LED optics provides favorable paybacks over T8 and T5 fluorescent tube fixtures as well as the less efficient High Intensity Discharge (HID) fixtures such as Metal Halide.

Independence LED has included a new generation of optics on its fixtures to optimize the performance for aisle lights in warehouses, distribution centers, grocery stores, and retailers from small to big box facilities.
