Renewable Energy in Michigan

Our GREENandSAVE Staff is always on the lookout for cost-effective energy savings to help businesses in Michigan become more sustainable. The Energy Intelligence Center has developed some excellent Chiller Plant Energy Savings ranging from 15% to 40% via their OptikW algorithmic software platform. The software solutions do not require new equipment and the compensation for the services is paved on the savings generated. This is a win/win for businesses and the environment.

Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Optimization are core strengths of the Energy Intelligence Center. As sensor and control technology continues to improve, their team has demonstrated proven results using their advanced logic that leverages ambient conditions like temperature, humidity, and dew point to optimize HVAC systems.

“Southfield, Michigan-based Farbman Group has committed to investing in DTE Energy’s MIGreenPower program, one of the nation’s largest voluntary renewable energy programs.

‘As an owner and operator of hundreds of buildings across the State of Michigan, Farbman Group is always looking for ways to reduce its environmental impact,’ said Andrew Farbman, chief execu[t]ive officer. ‘Our company is extremely proud to be one of the first businesses to invest in DTE Energy’s MIGreenPower program, resulting in a significantly reduced carbon footprint through wind and solar energy generated right in our own backyard.’

MIGreenPower is a voluntary renewable energy program that helps DTE electric customers reduce their carbon footprint and support the development of additional wind and solar energy projects in Michigan. Enrolled customers can customize their participation and attribute up to 100 percent of their energy use to local wind farms and solar parks.

‘We are honored that the Farbman Group, one of the Midwest’s leading commercial real estate companies, has enrolled in MIGreenPower to help meet its sustainability goals,’ said Trevor Lauer, president of DTE Energy’s electric company. ‘We know that our customers are looking for ways to reduce their impact on the environment – and MIGreenPower is a cost effective and efficient means to gain more access to renewable energy.’”
