This summer one beverage company has bottled a great way to stay cool, organic and environmentally conscious all in one sip at a time. Honest. Honest Beverages is a private, USDA certified organic beverage company that offers 45 varieties of bottled teas, juices, and tea bags in fully recyclable bottles. Producing flavors with low to no sugar such as Mango Green Tea, Pomegranate White Tea, Cranberry Lemonade and Agave Mate, Honest Beverages offers a great solution to stay hydrated and healthy. Honest Beverages also offers a product line of low-sugar, organic juice pouches for children as a healthy alternative to juice boxes high in sugar and fructose. The “Honest” team of over 50 employees develops new beverage flavors every year in an old office converted into a completely sustainable workspace. The company is also developing new solutions on how to manage energy use in production and covert their manufacturing company into one that is entirely sustainable. Offering nutritious, natural products with half the sugar and calories of regular name brand beverages is only one facet of the Honest Beverages Company. They have also created project “Community Green.” Community Green pairs up with Americorp’s City Year members to promote service in underprivileged communities and to ignite a shared sense of community service in each Honest Beverage consumer. Honest Beverages also harvests tea leaves for many of their best selling products from economically disadvantaged communities making them the first Fair Trade bottled tea manufacturers in America. Honest Beverages also offers a variety of events and giveaways for their consumers. This summer they have paired up with the Sierra Club, an organization dedicated to the conservation and protection of America’s clean air, water, wildlife, and parks, to offer a Sierra Club adventure for two sweepstake winners. In addition to offering the trip for two contestants, they also will be donating a portion of the contest bottle sales to support the Sierra Club’s sales. They also are offering giveaways where contestants can win a snowboard designed by Dave Matthews Band member Steffan Lessard and a new Jamis bicycle. Throughout May 2009 Honest Tea went on a sampling tour across the country, quenching thirst and educating civilians on health and nutrition throughout the East Coast and West Coast. In Pennsylvania, Honest Tea beverages are sold state-wide in locations such as Wawa, Whole Foods Market, Sam’s Club and Wegmans making it easy for consumers to refresh, recycle and replenish.
