Thirty percent of the United States energy consumption comes from heating water. With the Geyser High-Efficiency Heat Pump Water Heater households can save up to 32 percent of the energy used for solar water heaters and 152 percent for electric systems.
The Geyser Water Heater simply connects to an existing water heater and wall outlet to produce hot water by removing heat from the source. Additionally, the device provides free cooling and dehumidification with no additional energy used. Using a small amount of electricity, the water heater has a ratio of 3.7 COP for water heating output to electric energy input. The water heater can reach 120-140 degrees Farenheit and a cooling effect using 6700 BTU per Kilowatt hour.
When compared to electric resistance water heaters, the heat pump water heater uses about 60 percent less Kilowatt Hours to produce the same amount of hot water (64.3 gallons). Additionally, electric water heaters need coal-fired power plants to discharge 5.3 pounds of sulfur dioxide, 2.4 pounds of nitrogen oxide and 911 pounds of carbon dioxde each month to produce that much power. The heat pump water heater reduces those numbers by 64 percent or 3.4 pounds of sulfur dioxide, 1.6 pounds of nitrogen oxide and 580 pounds of carbon dioxide.
The Geyser Water Heater works by dumping heat into the box to evaporate, compress, exchange and expand. Heat is tranferred to evaporate and condense heat. The compressor and condensor operate at high pressure on the "high side" while the evaporator and expansion device operates at low pressure on the "low side." The compressor pulls the heat from the evaporator and pushes it to the condensor in a low to high flow. The expansion device resists the flow back to the "low side" to maintain pressure.
In addition to reducing their carbon footprint, consumers will save 50-90 percent on their water heating bill and a payback in 24-36 months.
