Electric Vs Gas Stoves

When it comes to buying a new home or simply replacing appliances, there are two main choices for stoves: electric and gas. And with the economy being what it is, people wonder which would save them the most money. While some web sites say electric is the best, others say gas is the best with an electric ignition.

At the end of the month, each city or town charges differently for utilities; therefore, saving money is relative. However, if someone is looking to save energy, most people seem to agree that a gas stove with an electric ignition is the best way to go. With an electric ignition a homeowner can reduce gas usage by around a third, according to Consumer Energy Center.

Plus, a convection oven is also an item that a buyer would want to look for because the convection oven allows heat to flow around the space, like a fan causes air to circulate around a room, so it saves energy and money. And remember, to save more energy: 1) do not open the door to check on food a lot, 2) bake multiple items simultaneously, and 3) only preheat when necessary. For cooking smaller meals use a toaster oven or microwave.

So when looking to save money look into electric and gas companies within an area to see prices and if looking to help the environment, search for Energy Star appliances.
