Power Home Remodeling Group Opens New Headquarters

CHESTER, PA- In President Obama’s State of the Union Address he gave an example of a business in the U.S. who began as small manufacturer of Solar Tiles for roofing. This company is now very growing exponentially and becoming an industry leader. These types of businesses are springing up all over the country. Power Home Remodeling Group (Power), formerly Power Windows and Siding, held a ceremony earlier this month to open their new headquarters in Chester, PA. In attendance were Governor Ed Rendell, State Representative Thaddeus Kirkland, Chester Mayor Wendell Butler, and many family and friends of the Power family.

The young and energetic CEO and co-founder Jeff Kaliner opened the ceremonies by explaining how Power Home Remodeling Group began as a small business in 1992. Over the years through hard work, ingenuity, and integrity, this small company grew to become the fourth largest home remodeling contractor in the United States. With the help of his intelligent cousin and co-founder Adam Kaliner, Jeff was able to build Power and expand into the successful business we see today.

The move to the Wharf at Rivertown is part of a plan to revitalize the City of Chester by bringing more jobs into the area. Governor Rendell and his Government Action Team awarded Power Home Remodeling Group $200,000 for capital funding for their business. In return, Power plans to hire 100 local employees per year for the next three years in the Philadelphia region. It is estimated that Power will hire close to 1,000 employees nationally over the next three years, far exceeding expectations. Power also plans to start Power University, a community relations program that will involve outreach to local Chester youth, providing them with skills-based business and marketing courses, mentorship programs and scholarship opportunities. In his support of Power, and all they are doing for the community and energy efficiency, the Governor emphasized that we must, “keep investing in the things that are important.”

Governor Rendell also spoke of the importance of the work that Power is doing in regards to energy efficiency saying that, “We can never meet the growing demand for energy in this world, as countries like China and India begin to consume more and more energy. So, we have to conserve the energy we are creating.” Buildings are the number one contributor to greenhouse gases in our atmosphere. It is essential that we make our buildings more efficient. Everyday companies like Power are figuring out the most cost effective ways to make this happen.

Power’s new headquarters reside in the newly renovated Wharf at Rivertown in Chester. A property of the Buccini/Pollin Group, the building itself was built in 1916 and had been used to burn coal to power the City of Chester before being shut down for a significant period of time. This is part of the reason why Power chose this site for their new headquarters. They want to be a part of a renewal of both the environment and the local community by upgrading the old coal-burning factory, and ushering in the new era of sustainability.

Also in attendance was Power’s window Manufacturer Northeast Building Products. Based in Northeast Philadelphia, they employ hundreds of local citizens and have been able to double their shift load due to Power’s success and window orders. Like the employees at Northeast Building Products, it is estimated that Power influences about 2,000 families across the United States. This seems to be a trend in Pennsylvania, particularly in the Philadelphia area. Manufacturers like Solar Pro, LED Saving Solutions, (click), and Gamesa Energy (click) have all moved their businesses to the Philadelphia region.

Power specializes in energy efficient products including but not limited to windows, siding, roofing, and doors. Their dedication to sustainability has attracted the attention of many government officials. What makes them different from other green-contractors is their dedication to customer care. Anyone who has ever taken on a remodeling project knows that there can be a number of headaches involved. Power’s experts have an outstanding reputation for being very knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process.

With this opening, also came the introduction of a name change for the company. Formerly titled Power Windows and Siding, the Power Home Remodeling Group ensures their clients and associates that the name change will not affect them in any way. The name change simply means that they will be able to do more to help their customers and their community.

Power is an excellent example of the American Dream. Winners of the Ernst and Young Entrepreneurs of the Year Award, Jeff and Adam represent what can be accomplished with hard work and integrity. Their plans to expand into three major markets in 2011 and four more in 2012, show no signs of slowing down for the Power Home Remodeling Group.

“In Chester, we’ve made Giant strides. But we’ve only just begun.” – Governor Ed Rendell, at the Power Home Remodeling Group’s opening of their new headquarters in Chester, PA.
