On Saturday, March 27, 2010, at 8:30pm local time, turn off your lights, and leave them off for an hour. You'll be showing your commitment to the health of the planet. You'll be participating in a worldwide movement. And you'll be surprised by how exciting it is to play the dark.

In 2009, people in at least 88 countries participated. The Empire State Building shut off it's lights. So did the Opera House in Sydney. And so did the Eiffel Tower.

Tomorrow, it looks like people in over 120 countries will celebrate Earth Hour. Even the strip in Las Vegas is flipping the lightswitch.

It's going to be big, and it's going to be fun. If you want some in-the-dark activity ideas, Treehugger has gathered a few lists for you. And if you want to be inspired to tears by the awesomeness of last year's Earth Hour, watch the official video for this year's:

And don't forget: 8:30pm on Saturday March 27. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing, whoever's there with you, turn off the lights. And enjoy.
