B - The Organization/Company:

Website Address: greenjobsphilly.org

Mission: Help create 100,000 green collar jobs in Philadelphia.

About Us:
GreenJobsPhilly makes it free and easy for Philadelphians to offer and request green jobs, green services, green grants and green loans. Green jobs are those that lower the costs of heating and eating, while cleaning water and air. Through the website we enable green employers to find talented people ready to work, and we enable job seekers to find partners or funders with whom to start new green businesses and organizations. Other resources and speakers about the greening of Philadelphia?s economy can be found there.

C - The GREEN 10-Qs:

  1. What childhood, personal, or career eco-experience inspired your current work?
Discovered that the beauty of people and nature contrast with the brutality of war.

  2. Who inspires you in our Philadelphia community?
Philadelphians are extraordinarily friendly people, seems to me, except when driving.

  3. What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
Creating community solutions to economic problems for 40 years.

  4. What is one of your favorite Philly eco-activities, products, or services?
Meeting new people at public events and public places, promoting environmental justice.

  5. What is one of the things that you regularly do to make your life more eco-friendly?
I rely entirely on bicycle, trains and feet. I don't own a car.

  6. What would you change about your home or office to make it more eco-friendly?
I would install a compost toilet.

  7. What would you change about Philly to make it more eco-friendly?
The highest and best use of vacant lots is for orchards and gardens. As fuel prices rise, the only affordable housing here will be superinsulated. Clean water will become too valuable to poop into.

  8. What book, movie, or TV show would you recommend people to read or watch?
    Green Jobs Philly.

  9. In addition to your family and friends, what three people living or dead would you take to live with you for a decade on a deserted island?
Patch Adams, Joni Mitchell, Paul Robeson

  10. What quote (with source) or your own words of wisdom would you like to share with our readers?
There are solutions to Philadelphia's deepest problems. There are plenty of green paths to take here. Prepare for the best!
