Home Efficiency Checkups with Return on Investment Report & Energy Auditing
Is your home ENERGY SMART? Learn about which type of Home Energy Audit or Home Efficiency Checkup is right for you. Call for details or book your appointment: 610.628.1300.
The path to efficiency starts when we ‘Assess’ your property with the Energy Audit that is right for your situation. Energy Auditing is relatively new to most Americans, so the breakdown below is designed to help you understand the differences and choose the right type of audit. The pricing structure is based on an average size three to four bedroom home that is approximately 2,500 sq. ft. Please note that our team members are cross certified to be able to best serve your specific needs.
The most cost-effective way to start saving money. A Certified Home Efficiency Consultant will come out to your home and analyze your electric, fuel, and water bills before exploring your home and searching for the most cost-effective opportunities to save money, energy, and the environment. The deliverable is a detailed report showing exactly how your home compares in areas such as electric base load, home heating efficiency, and cooling efficiency as well as an easy-to-understand Return on Investment (ROI) cost/benefit analysis on the energy-saving tactics that are best suited for your home. The ‘whole property’ approach also takes into account opportunities for savings in your yard and on your roof with possibilities for renewable energy and cost-reductions. Plus with each checkup , you will also receive the Residential ‘Green De-Coder’ that breaks down the new Tax Credit opportunities.
Energy Audit with Blower Door & Combustion Safety Testing
Protect your family and save money on your energy bills with a Home Energy Audit from an auditor certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI ). Your auditor will come out to your home and look at two major categories. First, your auditor will test the safety and efficiency of your combustion equipment such as the furnace, boiler, and range. Second , they will use a Blower Door to test for weak spots in the home’s thermal boundary. The deliverable is a report that lists the results of the tests as well as recommendations for improvements like air sealing.
Energy Audit with Energy Star Rating
For new home construction, Residential Energy Service Network has a ‘Home Energy Rating’ HERS Index that scores the homes efficiency. The Rater conducts onsite inspections, typically including a blower door test (to test the leakiness of the house) and a duct test (to test the leakiness of the ducts). The results of these tests, along with inputs derived from the plan review, are used to generate the HERS Index score for the home. This type of a ‘Rating’ Energy audit is increasingly popular with builders that want to market their homes as high performance via Energy Star’ standards.
Energy Audit with Infrared Imaging
Upon request, our Energy Auditors use Infrared (IR) Cameras to literally help ‘see’ where there are voids in insulation as well as past or ongoing water damage. The IR enhancement to the Energy Audit is typically an upgrade of a couple hundred dollars given that the cost of the equipment ranges from $4,500 to over $15,000. The Building Science Institute trains auditors on specialty techniques to use the cameras and the major camera manufacturers also provide excellent software and tutorials to help guide auditors into the best practices for the equipment.
‘GREEN’ Home Design and Renovation
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) is a certification for properties that takes into account a broad range of Energy and Environmental considerations. Since some states offer incentives for LEED certification, we offer the support work since we have LEED Accredited Professionals on our full time staff. The cost of the LEED coordination is structured on a case-by-case basis.
Where are you on the path?
Our 360° Path to Optimization approach has come from over two decades of providing innovative design and cost saving programs for clients across the country. We work with clients all along the cycle or we can focus just on an individual need specific to your situation.
Get Started - If you’re here, then you most likely are already aware of the potential opportunities to reduce costs and impact on the environment. We don’t need to tell you about de-regulation…
1: Assess - If you have not already had an Energy Audit, we can help you ‘Assess’ the situation to guide the most appropriate improvements and deliver the Return on Investment Reports to illustrate the best payback.
2: Quote – If you know what you need, and want help getting the best quotes from the right contractors, just let us know, and we can either recommend providers or help you make sense of the bids. This way you can compare ‘apples to apples’ when it comes to R-Value for insulation, longevity of systems, warranties, etc.
3: Finance – If you want to take advantage of the Federal Tax Credits, State Incentives, Rebates, and new generation of Green Bank Lenders, we have written the ‘Green De-Coder’ that unravels all of the complexity.
4: Engage – If you are ready to ‘pull the trigger’ on design or installation, we can help serve as a sounding board to flag anything that does not match up with Best Practices.
5: Monitor – If you want to truly test the performance of your energy saving initiatives over time, we can set the ball in motion to help you systematically monitor key data points like the: Heating Index, Base Load Electric, Base Water Usage…and more. Measurement is the key to Management.
