It’s time for Listener Letters. What do we have Doug?

Our fist letter is a real one and it comes from Janeka Laurie of Middletown. Janeka writes: Dear Green Fox,
I have a very large bank barn with south-facing roof (100 long and very high/wide!). I have considered installing solar panels on this roof and would love some guidance from you and your guys. The farm is zoned residential w/farmland use, farmland assessed for tax purposes, and I own/operate an incorporated (horse) business on the farm. Would this be considered commercial use or residential? Also, if I install enough panels, I've been told that I will produce more power than I would use on this farm. Is there a way to "sell" the extra power produced? How do I know how much is enough? Who do I contact? Are there state/federal grants available for installation and maintenance of these systems? Do any of the installation companies look for "model" projects to show potential customers, agencies, etc? Help I'm frazzled! Look forward to your insight and information! (Paul to answer)

Our next letter is from Peter Marovich from Pennsgrove, NJ. Pete asks: “Do banks loan money for solar power systems? If not, what’s the best way to finance a new system? Are they good investments?” (Paul to answer)

We have a question here from Will Reed of New Castle, DE. Will wants to know:
“How do I tell know what size PV system to install to meet my families energy demands?” Dale?
