Overall Segment #1 – 9:00

Music & Introduction (Doug) – 2:30

Introduction – Good morning and welcome to the Great GREEN HOME SHOW. I hope everyone has had a great weekend so far... we thank you for joining us.

As usual, we have a show full of information that we hope will educate & entertain you, while showing you how to save energy, reduce your carbon footprint, and even save you some money. As always, we’ll have a little comedy, with some colorful, recurring characters, we’ll give you some helpful tips and some “green” news items, both local and global.

Today’s show is full of good information on transportation (namely cars of all types) so grab a pen and some paper and get ready. I’m Doug Hunt, and next to me is my co-host, Paul Hughes. Good morning Paul, how was your week? Anything special happen? Anything particularly “Green” going on?

Paul – every week I have to have something interesting...lets see uh ok I am starting a new short segment, called the “Worlds Weirdest Green Ideas”...and here’s the first one...In order to reduce the effects of the sun on the advance of Global warming a scientist from Iowa State university has proposed we mine dust from the surface of the moon and create large space clouds which would block the suns rays once a month for 20 hours.....probably not too expensive to build large sun blocking space clouds, I guess...oh yeah the down side, Possibly, There could be an extra reflection of light ( and heat ) when the clouds were in the opposite orbit position can you imagine actually funding this project in a last ditch effort, cause we didn’t do the simple things here on earth, and it actually ends up frying us like ants under a magnifying glass.....any body got kids applying to the science program at Iowa State, cool... they’ll need moon dust masks....
Recycle, conserve, cut back, and share…

Doug: OK! That was “interesting”. A little weird, but interesting. Anyway, today’s show is all about cars... we’ll try to help you weed your way through this overgrown automobile garden... so many choices... we’ll try to answer all of those questions:

what if my car’s only 3 years old?
when should I trade it in?
which car should I buy?
should I wait for a plug in hybrid?
when are the hydrogen cars coming...if ever?

Some of these questions aren’t necessarily black & white and really, every situation is unique… but we’ll try to give you enough info to make an educated decision, so it will require some thinking on your part. We’ll try not to make anyone’s brain hurt too much. But before we start, we need to thank our sponsors. Paul?

Thanks to: – Suntrust Mortgage, CMI Electric, Energy Services Group, Myecoagent.com and Option Insurance Group. Also, Mark Unruh for the great music… and listen to Scott Birney’s program on WVUD - 91.3 FM on Fridays ...we will be on as guests in about 2 weeks... might even play a tune or two...Doug... Protect us...
