Overall Segment #1 – 9:00

Music & Introduction – 3:30

Introduction – Good morning Delmarva and welcome to the Great GREEN HOME SHOW. I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far and we’d like to thank everyone for tuning in. Today’s show has a green building theme. We’ll be talking about basic definitions, new ideas, new technologies and best of all, we're going to chat with Councilwoman Stephanie McClellan, who is the Chairperson for the New Castle County Workgroup on Green Building. We’re very excited to have her here today.

As always, we’ll try to educate and entertain you, while talking about how you can reduce your carbon footprint, save some energy and even - perhaps - save you a little money... We have our recurring characters, helpful tips and “green” news items, both local and global.

I’m Doug Hunt, and next to me is my co-host, Paul Hughes. Good morning Paul, how was your week? Anything special happen? Anything particularly Green going on?

Paul – oh yes there was a couple of things this week in the paper I was especially happy to read about the Australian investment company with a bank of about $50 billion and a history for management and investment in successful wind projects. This company just took a controlling stake in Bluewaterwind which not only makes it ( Local wind power ) more viable as a solid solution to many energy and energy related pollution problems but it puts to rest the need for financial backing for such a project should costs change during the installation phase.

This is truly a great boost for Bluewaterwind and for the State of Delaware as I've said before ( as I understand it ) there will be an added extra cost over 15 years or so for clean pollution free electricity. I'm not sure what the cost is at this point but it should be around 11 or $12 a month added on top, as I understand it. Compared to the 59% or so increase that we all just experienced through de-regulation. So I implore you once again, to write to Delmarva or send an e-mail saying that you are happy to pay the $11 or $12 a month more for the next 15 years because I know that there will not be an increase in the cost of wind due to any man-made financial mechanism.

And if that wasn't enough there were articles by Lester Brown of the world watch Institute and Mark Jacobson of Stanford University, Cornelius Murphy of State University of New York, Bruce Babcock of Iowa State University and Dave Pimentel of Cornell University all of who were warning against the ozone layer pollution, nitrogen pollution, excess tax dollar subsidies for, high infrastructure costs high maintenance cost low low BTU return and the consequent increase in higher food costs across the board.

You heard it here first on the great GREEN HOME SHOW on our second/third show warning about the hidden costs of turning to Ethanol instead of turning to conservation and the well intentiond but addled brained idea of taking our food stocks and turning them into fuel for our out of date and archaic combustion engines. The technology is here… it’s just our will that needs to catch up.

The Great GREEN HOME SHOW will try to fetter out the truth on all of these new and emerging technologies and so-called answers to our present energy and pollution problems we will do our best to research all angles,.... stay away from any political influences and get to the roots of the problem as early as possible so our listeners can become informed and make their own decisions based upon information as close to the truth as we can get it. Okay Doug take us out. Recycle, conserve, and share…

Doug: And use technology. Before we start the show today, we’d really like to thank Mark Unruh and Chip Porter for coming in last week playing some wonderful music and helping us dedicate the show to the many musicians who have taken the lead on reducing their energy consumption, pollution, and carbon footprint. Many other local musicians have also taken on the role of leading the charge and we thank them all. So thanks again Mark.... and to Chip and his new life in Indiana, we wish you the best. Please stay in touch. It’s our plan to periodically bring back some of the artists and musicians who manage to spark these movements and then somehow keep them alive. If you listened to last week’s show, you know it was filled with great music, a lot of fun and some good old-fashioned common sense. If you missed it, you can go to WILM.com and use the keyword green and listen to it and all of our other shows at your leisure. That being said, lets get on with the show. But first, we need to thank our sponsors. Paul?

Thanks to: – Suntrust Mortgage, CMI Electric, Energy Services Group, Myecoagent.com and Option Insurance Group. Also, Mark Unruh for the great music…. and listen to Scott Birney’s program on WVUD - 91.3 FM on Fridays ...we will be on his show as guests some day soon…Doug... Protect us...
