Introduction – Good morning everyone and welcome to the Great Green Home Show! Thanks for joining us for another great hour of green information. Today’s show is chock full of good info so grab a pen and some paper and get ready. We have information which will educate, entertain and hopefully inspire you… but it will also show you how to reduce your energy consumption and carbon footprint, and best of all - save you money.... We like to deliver this information through a combination of interesting guests (although it’s just us “green guys” today), helpful tips and to-do lists, local and global “green” news items, technology reports and humorous skits with some colorful, recurring characters.

I’m Doug Hunt, and next to me is my co-host, Paul Hughes. Good morning Paul, how was your week? Anything special happen? Anything particularly Green go on?

Paul – every week I have to have something interesting...lets see uh you Hawaiian shirt party was a blast and I noticed a lot of green additions to the party, Vegi-Burgers, local produce, green Beer, /// more importantly we did more work on our Eco-mandments, Green Neighbor websites, The Green Checklist, and others...

Today we’re going show you a bunch of things you can do to improve your energy efficiency around the house. We know that you’re bombarded with things to do but you may not know which ones are the most important or save the most energy, or for that matter, save the most money. It is a little known fact that after the war for freedom was over Abraham Lincoln turned his attention to more environmental pursuits. As with many of his in depth and insightful writings he was famous for giving speeches and address which moved the masses and inspired Nations. Just recently a man was fishing by the Potomac river and discovered and old book hidden beneath a great oak tree and in it was a copy of a little know address which honest Abe gave under that same tree on what some historians call the real first green day......

Wait a second. You Know This week I can’t do this. The green take off on a famous event. I keep thinking and thinking of what comic but meaningful turns and parodies I can write and I keep coming up against a feeling, a sense that I am messing with something that I shouldn’t, and everything I wanted to say was really already in the address that Abraham Lincoln gave at Gettysburg so....

I am going to read it. Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
