The agriculture industrial complex produces about 24% of global greenhouse gases (GHG). This is higher than the car and transportation 14% contribution to GHG. In short the way that we produce food is a major contributor to climate change. Growing food locally helps reduce the GHG burden and it helps increase the nutritional value.
