Bloom Energy has been very quietly (some say secretly) generating electricity for Google, WalMart, eBay, FedEx, and other corporations for years. But their official launch isn't until Wednesday. And, on Sunday, for the first time, they offered a sneak preview.

Founder K.R. Sridhar told Lesley Stahl of 60 Minutes that his "power plant in a box" fuel cell technology is almost ready for mass production:

In five to ten years, we would like to be in every home.

He told her it won't be expensive:

A unit should cost less than three thousand dollars.

And he told her there's nothing wrong with being idealistic:

You know, it's about seeing the world as what it can be and not what it is.
