"The first graduates of a green jobs training program created by the Energy Coordinating Agency of Philadelphia have all been hired by the nonprofit.

Twenty-one students learned how to weatherize homes during a four-week training course that finished May 15.

ECA expects to employ more of its graduates as it trains more workers, said Pam Carunchio, director of planning and development for the organization. The Philadelphia Work Force Development Corp. financed the training, which cost $120,000.

Weatherization is a priority for both the federal and city government as a means to jumpstart a green economy based around entry-level jobs, federal stimulus dollars, and improved energy efficiency for home owners."
