How can I be more “green”?
Recently I have been hearing in the news about the push for everyone to live a little "greener". I always thought this was something that only concerned extremists or treehuggers. What can I do in my life to be more "green"?
The Expert Answer:
Getting started on being “green” is really easy. Buy CFL’s (compact fluorescent lights) to replace your incandescents as they wear out. They are inexpensive and will save many times the money you spent on them in electricity. When you are brushing your teeth, turn off the faucet. When you are doing dishes or laundry, wait until you have a full load. Turn your computer off when you aren’t using it and switch off your TV with an outlet strip. These appliances continue to use electricity even when they are not being used.
As you start to get in the “green” mindset, every day you’ll realize little ways that you have been wasting energy or water. The more you find, the more you save, and the smaller your “footprint” on the earth becomes.
