Over its 15 year history, the celebrated show, How It’s Made, has aired more than 1,500 profiles of manufacturers. The Science Channel chose award-winning, Made in USA, Independence LED Lighting (http://independenceled.com) as the first LED lighting profile worldwide. This is exciting for the “Green-Energy” LED industry, given the ability for television to increase awareness of energy-efficient lighting.

The CEO Independence LED Lighting, Charlie Szoradi, said, “As a viewer and a fan of the How It’s Made TV show, I was pleased that Science Channel chose to profile our line of energy saving LED tubes. We applaud the leadership team at Discovery and the Science Channel for inspiring people with the process of manufacturing and next-generation technology.”

How It’s Made Show Statistics:

Total Number of Shows and Subject Profiles: According to the How It’s Made producers, the show has included profiles of 1,560 manufacturing subjects to date. That number is based on 13 episodes per season that each cover 4 subjects for a total of 52 subjects per season. Each year, How It’s Made has 2 seasons. Since 2001, the show is now on season 30, so 52 x 30 seasons = 1,560 different subjects to date.

Profiles on LED Lighting: How It’s Made does not repeat subject profiles, and Independence LED Lighting is the first coverage of LED lighting.

Manufacturing around the World: The How It’s Made producers research and travel around the world identifying and documenting the most appropriate subject matter. Approximately 50% of the profiles are done in the U.S. with 25% in Europe. The European sources often include France, England, Italy, Germany, and Switzerland. The remaining 25% of the profiles are from different places around the world.

International Audience: International versions of Science Channel currently exist in South East Asia, Europe, India, Canada, Latin America and Australia. Unlike the U.S. service, the international channels are branded under the Discovery Science name.

This is a great way to showcase energy-saving as well as American manufacturing. For the Press Release on the show see: http://independenceled.com/how-its-made-tv-show/
