Verisae Inc. announced June 5 that it has obtained a patent for its web-based system for tracking and reporting greenhouse gas emissions.

Verisae, a supplier of sustainability-on-demand software solutions, said its tool will allow customers to reach high energy efficiency and establish themselves as sustainable organizations. The company works with customers to obtain return on investments by tracking emissions as well as energy use.

Paul Hepperla, director of energy services, said, “Using our methods and processes, we are providing organizations with a verifiable carbon baseline, detailed energy management options, and a comprehensive corporate sustainability action plan.”

The patent itself concerns gathering and entering data with respect to one or more emissions sources, automatically calculating emissions totals and generating emissions reports.

Other software companies have worked to develop carbon emissions-tracking software, including IBM and Planet Metrics.
