Urban Health Plan Selects American Made Independence LED Lighting for its New Diagnostic and Treatment Center.

LED lights help community health center set new benchmark for energy savings, plus LEED GOLD Target. As the U.S. faces a prolonged recession and the potential for rising health care costs, one organization is forward thinking and LEADS BY EXAMPLE to reduce operating costs. When Urban Health Plan (UHP) began construction on a 54,000 square foot addition to its main site at 1065 Southern Blvd, Bronx, NY, it wanted to ensure that the building was energy efficient . To do so, it purchased a comprehensive range of LED products totaling $350,000, from Wayne, PA based firm Independence LED. These LED products use half as much wattage as a typical fluorescent tube.

"This LED initiative is in line with a key aspect of our Vision to ‘focus on incorporating state of the art technology’. It also aligns well with one of our seven core Values ‘Innovation’ to take a transformational approach to healthcare. Running an energy-efficient facility is a primary concern for Urban Health Plan; it is consistent with all of UHP’s cost-savings initiatives.” Paloma Hernandez – President & CEO, UHP

“We applaud the leadership of UHP and the Development Support Team. We see this work as a model for other medical centers, hospitals and clinics that often have much of their facility illuminated 24/7.” Charlie Szoradi – Chairman & CEO, Independence LED

“In working with UHP, we identified longevity and efficiency considerations and recommended Independence LED because of the advanced thermal management on their products, their market traction and reputation, and the U.S. Made Quality Assurance.” Kris Shaw – CEO, Crescent Energy. Crescent Energy is the project Energy Advisor & Specifier on this UHP project.

This project naturally also includes an integrated Support Team of Architects, Engineers, and Project Managers, in addition to the Energy Advisor & Specifier.
