Taiwan's New Plastic Building

A Taiwanese construction and financial services conglomerate called Far Eastern Group has built a three story structure using plastic water bottles in place of bricks. According to Reuters:

The pavilion, dubbed the EcoARK, includes an amphitheater, museum space and a screen of falling water collected during rainy periods for air conditioning. The clear plastic containers in the wall allow natural light to flood the cavernous interior.

Apparently, the containers also interlock so elegantly that the structure - which can be dismantled and reassembled with ease - can withstand typhoons and earthquakes.

The China Post calls the structure "the world’s lightest, movable, breathable environmental miracle."

The Eco Ark is a wonderful structure. Those interlocking bricks, called Polli-Bricks, all have LED lamps inside of them. There are some wonderful pictures on the internet to show this in action. Amazingly, I have read that the Eco Ark will be cooled by water -- not by air conditioning. And the LED lights will be run by solar power set up on the roof. Wonderful. Just wonderful.
