As we promised on Wednesday, here's a little introduction to the first step in Simple Steps' 12 step plan, a plan designed to help each of us curb our energy addiction and reduce our environmental footprint.
The step is getting a home energy audit, and the Simple Steps article walks you step by step (more steps!) through the process, from choosing an auditor to preparing your house for an audit to finding tax incentives that will make the cost of an audit more reasonable.

Before you can start to make improvements at home, you have to take a cold, hard look at where you’re wasting energy. This is no simple task—unless you have infrared vision finding cold spots in your house can be hit or miss, leading you to seal your windows perhaps but leaving openings in your eaves that drain warm air straight out of your home.
